15"x22.5" Watercolor, Dry Pastel, Ink Pen, Ink, Gouache & Gold Acrylic on Arches 140 lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper with a Deckled Edge
Over the course of the last year, I’ve returned often to pondering the questions: “What makes a place home?” & “Where do I belong?” Is it safety I am searching for, comfort? Feeling known. A sense of purpose or community? Financial freedom and security? Love for the landscape or culture?
I’ve tried to pay attention to the places and moments that tug at my heart strings, but I am still searching for the answers to these questions. One thing I I feel confident of:
“home is a place that facilitates or aids in operating in your design, & COMMUNITY plays a key role.”
"Birds of a Feather, flock together” so the saying goes, an indicator that creatures of the same design tend to gather together. This principal is often true in nature, but is it true of humans? Do we all have a tribe? A place where similar people gather?
I’ve found that it's not so much the similarities that matter, as much as the feeling known and accepted matters. We all long to be known deeply, beyond what we put on display.
