I never understood why some people found the dessert beautiful. To me it seemed desolate, dry, starved of water, vegetation & life, and way too hot for comfort. Then my husband and I spent over a month in the dessert regions of California, Arizona & Utah during a super bloom, and I learned to appreciate the unique beauty that the dessert carries. Over time I came to see the beauty and flourishing life of the dessert. It took time cause the growth was not as obvious; it was slow and small comparative to the humid environment I was used to.
This growth is beautiful cause of the way it forces you to slow down and search for it. It reminded me to slow down and look at my own life to recognize the growth that wasn’t as obvious because it had happened over time; it is just as beautiful and maybe even more valuable.
